Block your IP? Block it from what, exactly?

OP the short answer is no. Every time you connect to something from your computer, your computer's public IP will always be recorded, it does not matter if you use Email, P2P, or a website.

The only way to stay hidden is to use a proxy server, one that does not forward the client's (you) IP address. Their are plenty of these.

As wizzard said, why do you want this, unless you are doing something illegal, you have nothing to hide, so their is no reason to hide your IP. It cannot be directly traced to you personally without the without a court order, and a damn good reason, the data protection act does this. So your privacy (at least in this country) is protected. Now, if you are paranoid about keeping your privacy as some are, their are other methods besides simple proxies you can use.

I am by no means accusing you of doing anything illegal, but it just seems more trouble then worth to keep your IP hidden. And some ISPs do activly block "anonymous proxies", such as BT. I used to use them on occasion, but now I get Connection Reset by Peer errors.

    click. Answer to everything!

Also I doubt he would only be using it for something illegal? I use to use one the whole time I was banned from an old clan for wanting to leave but i liked the guys I played with so I used an ip blocker to get on there site and post in the forums :D

That's your opinion. Other people have different opinions on privacy.

OP, look into Tor and Privoxy (although be aware that if you use these, you'll still have to sort out a way to proxy your DNS queries if you're trying to hide things from your ISP)

@CF: I am by no means accusing the OP of doing something illegal, just saying that it is more trouble then it's worth just to keep your privacy, your IP cannot always be directly traced to you personally because ISPs dont give out the information, they are legally obligated to protect your privacy unless a crime is comitted.

I updated my earlier post to clarify my position on this.

If you don't mind a very slow net you could try Torpark. It's free and can be downloaded here http://www.download.com/Torpark/3000-2356_4-10586816.html?tag=lst-0-1

And what about nosy engineers in the ISP? If you think people in ISPs don't occasionally snoop on customers for the craic, you'd be shocked to hear some stories I could tell.
