NTL Problem

    Hi guys,

    I've had this problem for about 2 weeks but have only got around to sorting it out today. Basically, when I turn on my NTL Digibox, I get the following error;

    Important

Your set-top box has not updated correctly.

Please turn your set-top box off at the mains, check all connections, then turn the box back on.

If you continue to see this message, please call our customer services team and quote reference Err3

I've tried everything, turning off at mains and making sure all connections are secure to no avail. I rang them today and the girl who I was talking to had never heard of an Err3. She said she would send someone out to have a look but the earliest space they have in my area (D24) is April 13th, 3 weeks away. Has anyone experience this problem before and is there any way I can fix this myself?

    Thanks for any help.

Hi, I had a problem like this before and I did the following. If you press the help button, and then press the yellow (I think) restart button, this resets the box.

    Hi

It happened to me a while back, I fixed it by doing the below.

you do unplug the box but, before plugging the power back in you have to hold in the "Down Arrow" button on the control panel on the front of the box. You hold it in until the word "boot" appears on the panel. It takes a few seconds. Only then does the box completely reset itself and start again completely from scratch. Problem solved!

    Regards

I think the above is directed at the first stb we got here. The big old dark grey one. If you have one of those fair enough, if not make sure you have a signal arriving to the stb.
Take the lead from the wall outlet and stick it directly into your TV.If you get the normal analogue stations on the TV then you know you've a signal. Connect that lead back into the cable input of the STB and power it up,if you still receive the same message then your STB maybe fecked or signals are very low and STB can't lock onto system.

Thanks for the advice however I still haven't been able to fix it. For more info, the little red light flashes while the warning message is on the TV, then after a couple of minutes the messages disappears and is replaced by a black screen on the TV screen and the red light becomes constant as if the STB is trying to reboot itself. The old warning message returns though after about 15 seconds and the light starts flashing again.

I tried all of the above but to no avail. The little "Pace" STB I have doesn't have a screen on the front where "boot" could appear?

I tried this as well. Once I plug the TV cable directly into the back on the TV I get the analogue channels so there is a signal there. The STB couldn't be fecked already could it? I've only had it about 6 months.

    Appreciate the responses.

This happened mine a couple of months before X-mas and they had to replace the actual unit.

The guy who came out said there was a bad batch of these units and that he has had to replace loads but that was before X-mas. My friend also had the same problems as you and she had to get it replaced aswell.
