Speakers not being picked up...

Hi all, i have another problem with my pc.

It stopped working the other day, just wouldn't boot in to windows, would display the windows loading screen, but when it disappeared, it did nothing, just a completely blank screen. I tried reinstalling windows, but when it restarted, it said hal.dll was missing. Now, i had no idea how to install without being able to get into windows so i just reformatted and started from scratch. For some reason, i now have two installations of windows... one that works, and one that doesn't.

Anywho, got my graphics card installed, after some effort i got the drivers for my modem installed and got back on the net.

However, i have just realised that my speakers aren't working anymore. They are speakers i had for my old dell pc and they worked fine up until things started going weird. When i got my new PC, i just plugged the speakers in and they worked straight away, so i am surprised that i am having problems with them now.

When i look at the sound and audio device section on the control panel, it says there are no audio devices.

They are Harman/Kardon HK206 speakers. Is it a prob with the speakers or the sound card do you reckon? a driver issue? I have looked in the box that came with the new pc, and i haven't seen a disc with sound card drivers on it. i'm also not sure what the sound card is, as it is not listed on the assembly sheet, i think it is part of the mother board (which is this: https://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=322929&view=detailed) if that is relevant.

    Any ideas?

EDIT: Never mind, got it sorted. it was a driver issue, for the sound card. found the correct drivers to install from the website.

About the windows thing being installed twice that usually happens when its not a windows xp disc? Like if it came with pc and had its own interface thing it will leave the old installation happened to me all the time!
