They tend to be quite cheap for the 6x4 variety.

I read about the above on a forum recently, just coming out now, a little printer which doesn't need ink (hence the name Zink - Zero Ink)
The colours will be in the paper, which is expected to retail quite cheaply.
No matter how great the printer, it's buying the ink that's a drag.
