    1.

Zarzu in the first at Lingfield.

Surprised to be seeing odds against here about this one to be honest. On ratings anyway he's far superior to these.

    2.

Bennett in the first at Newbury

I backed this one in his bumper run where he was beaten a short head by Tisseman. Strangely he then went over fences where he was handled very softly. Goes over hurdles today and one significant point about this is that the horse that beat him (well clear of the rest - is featured in the horses to follow thread) Tisseman, is favourite for a better hurdles race later in the afternoon. Surely on that alone we have to believe that 20-1 is too big for bennett. The favourite has a double penalty but is very talented...but I think Bennett might slip into a place.

    3.

    Special Place in Lingfield's 4:50

A horse that like to come from behind...broke his maiden tag carrying top weight in a handicap (which you don't see happening every day) this one looked one to follow after that. However, because of his style of running he often finds the path to the line thrombosed! In a 7 runner field today I think he won't have that problem

In the 2:40 at Newbury, Carlitos is the 7/4f while Hills Of Aran is 7/2. Yet when they met previously, Hills Of Aran finished 21 lengths in front of Carlitos. What's that all about?

Well the RP Spotlight says that Carlitos will appreciate today's ground much better than the muck in which they ran in January but I think Hills Of Aran will appreciate it too, being a flat-bred (out of a Danehill mare, for example). I suppose that Carlitos will be fresher for today's race given that Hills Of Aran has ran twice since then, including in the Coral Cup last week. Also, Carlitos has McCoy up for the first time, who will probably give him a better front-running ride than Tony Evans.

Still, I think the price difference is too big and I'm having a value bet on Hills Of Aran. These two should be a notch above their rivals here. In the aforementioned race in January, they were 5th and 6th behind Wichita Lineman, Tidal Bay, Massini's Maguire and Osana.

Zarzu drifted and ran like a horse who thought he was out for a walk.

Bennett pulled up after 2 hurdles with a leg problem of some kind. Great day so far
