What is the norm in a children's mma class - coach to kids. What is the norm and does the insurance offer a guideline

    Concerned Mum,

What do you mean by norm, the ratio of kids to a coach or something else?

Insurance for Irish martial arts clubs do not offer much guidelines other than the instructor be a black belt or have another coaching/teaching qualification from their body.

In terms of norms, its pretty much as Colm said theres no regulations. I suppose it depends on what you want yourself, if you feel theres too many in the class, then you should probably have a word with the coach and ask him why.

Two ways of looking at it- 1) The less there are the more attention each child gets. 2) The more there are the more diverse the group will be in terms of types of kid, size etc. That way the kids get a lot of new partners, new friends, group interaction skills etc.

Ultimately though if you have a concern I'm sure the best placed person to deal with it is the coach.
