I would bet that in this case, S-Video refers to RGB, as RGB signals can be carried over a Scart Lead as well as the normal RGB cables, S-Video connectors are not compatible with Scart, and always transmit an RGB signal AFAIK. So, setting it to S-Video means that your TV is getting a higher quality RGB signal instead of a lower quality Composite PAL signal.

A SCART cable is quite capable of carrying RGB, S-Video or plain old composite video.

To the OP .. what did you have your box set to before you set it to S-Video? If it was composite, then, yes, you should see an improvement. RGB would be an even bigger improvement.

    Great lads ..thanks for that
I've have set the vcr standard from Pal to S-video it's in the set top box installation menu on the sagem chorus box.

In my opinion greatly improves picture on LCD especially for sports...wish I 'd bought a huge 100hz Sony CRT when they were available:(

Is there not an RGB setting besides those two? It should be better again.

Chorus Is only broadcasted in 50hz so reception on a 100hz tv is extremely poor and blocky so I wouldn't recommend anyone to rush out and buy a new tv

Newsflash: All broadcasted TV is 50Hz (or 60Hz in NTSC countries). There is no television standard, be it analogue or digital, that supports a 100Hz frame/field rate. Well not any standard I've heard of.
