Superman returns, great film, any superman fans out there agree?

They kept most of the original soundtrack and feeling of the legendary superhero. Good casting and evolution of storyline and of course the natural feel good factor from the ethics of a superhero who is 'almost' infallible.

And the sound effects were class, second to none, great production. What did ye think?

It would be much better if it wasn't just a nice special effects remake of "Superman: The Movie".

I thought it was absolutely dreadful. Superman as a character isn't terribly interesting (once he's done all his plane-saving), and the Clark Kent angle was very by-the-motions. Spacey hammed it up as the villian, running Arnie close for most-ridiculous-villain in the comic adaptation genre.

Apparently plans for a sequel have been put on hold, with Superman instead being diverted to the upcoming Justice League movie - with The Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern and possibly Bale's Batman.

    Hope this never happens.

It wasn't bad at all Brandon Routh did a good Christopher Reeve impression - I don't think there was any need for this storyline though there a far more interesting plots out there. The problem with this (as well as the original movies) is that they concentrate way too much on the Lois Lane relationship and it just gets annoying after a while. There were parts in the original Superman that made me just want to vomit. "Can you read my mind?" - F*ck off! In my version of that scene he dropped her.

Dull but worthy. Routh was excellent, but a better title would have been Superman Lifts - since that all he seemed to do.

There's a few threads about this already. Including an "official thread" ;)

It's too soon for a retrospective.

It was brilliant, but only cause I enjoyed the sniff of nostalgia in my nostrils. I can't blame any of the film's critics to be honest...it could have been better.

I thought it was well done, considering the special effects and all. The sound was great and the story was handled well.

The original will never be topped. But the film was as good as could be expected, and some. Superman is still a hero in this movie and it did well to provide a great anticipation at the end as to whether he would die, or not
and be suceeded by his son. Very clever I thought and a nice feeling at the end when superman lived to talk to his son and whisper the legacy to his son.

Did I mention superman fans thread? Or superman critics thread? The plane saving scene landing on a world series baseball diamond was classic feel good superman stuff.

A great intro in an idealistic world of superhero timing, playing to the fans, and it worked for me. To try and satisfy the cynics I think the story did it well by portraying superman as a watcher in orbit listening to the folks crying out for a hero and hearing everything, very well done, made the hero lonely and great.

Didnt really like it, not my cup of tea. But not, per sé, a bad film.

Very very boring. All superman did was catch things. Action set pieces were well made but boring. It was more like a melodramatic love story than a comic book film. Chick flick with Superman flying around.

I found it to be absolutely atrocious.

I even tried to give it another chance but found myself unable to sit through it a second time.

There are other threads out there, so I don't even want begin to go through all the things that were wrong with this film yet again.

Have a look at Superman the Animated Series or Justice League Unlimited... that's how the characters of Superman and Lex Luthor should be.

superman lifts that great one, that some up my disappoint at the big bad in the film???

it a run of the mill remake, routh was good there was no chemistry with lois though.

I must have missed all that ?
