I have Office 2003 installed on my machine. Why does this happen, and how do I stop it from happening?

Sounds like your girlfriends account has lower privelages that your own. Escalate them to power user or admin, should fix it.

Sounds like a corrupt profile delete the NTuser.dat file in her profile and reboot, or just create a new profile and copy desktop, favourites etc across.
