Barcelona Accomodation

Myself and the other half have booked a week in Barcelona starting May 31st and we were just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for accomodation in the city centre. I've been told to head for the Las Ramblas area.

I've googled a few places and there seems to be some good stuff available (if a little pricey) but I thought I'd ask the seasoned travellers of boards.ie and see if they can shed any light before we book anything.

    Cheers!

We stayed here. Great place. Just around the corner from Plaza Catalunya, off Las Ramblas. Nice and quiet. Dead posh.

Our next pick was one of the H10 gaffs. Again, the one on Pl Cat was what we were looking for.

Lots of Zara for chicks :)

Lots of nice, cheap foreign beer in El Cortes Ingles too ;)

We stayed in Gran Hotel Torres Catalunya. Can't speak highly enough of the place. It's not in the city centre but it's directly beside a great Metro station. Also, if you're flying with Ryanair into Reus, the bus drops you off right outside the hotel (Southern Bus Terminal, I think).

Los Ramblos (or whatever) mightn't be such a great choice of you're with your lady. It depends how quiet ye are.

I have been to Barcelona a few times and stayed in hotels until the last time when I rented an apartment: http://www.rentalona.com/flats/jaume.htm

It was much better cos you got away from the tourists, the apartment is 3 mins from a metro stop and no more then 10 mins from Las Ramblas and a lovely walk to the Zoo and the beach!!

I'd never stay in a hotel again, this apartment had everything from a 28" tv with a DVD player and air conditioning and when you stepped out the front door you were surrounded by the culture and people of Barcelona.
