    Hi

Does anyone know where I can get a portable satellite dish to use on a caravan in France. I have my own box and card all I need is a small portable dish that I don't need to secure permanently.

    Hi

Maplin do indeed have a portable satellite system call Suitcase Satellite, does anyone have any information on it other than what is on the Maplin site, that is does in Work, where does it work, is it hard to setup.

    thanks

    Afternoon.

I think I may have a portable dish at home in a case. I will try and root it out. If I find it and you can arrange to collect it, you can have it for free.

Just checked, I have the dish, arm, lnb, clamps, sucker base, all in a case. You are more than welcome to it if you can collect from Naas.

Maplin do a "suitcase system" but the dish on it is so small I cant see it being much use really judge for yourself

I made an (almost ) portable dish myself using
    A 65 cm dish £30 in maplin
A Concrete slab (£2.50 from the local builders merchant/garden centre)

Despite being completly useless at DIY I drilled a couple of holes in the slab with a drill and masonary bit and attached the dish bracket with the (supplied) rawlbolts

It gets both Astra satellites and most of the transponders on Hotbird

Its a bit heavy but it is (trans)portable :D

I bought the Maplin satellite suitcase yesterday and tried it out tonite - just pointed it through an open bedroom window - had Astra 2B within a few minutes of jigging the dish centimetre by centimetre while facing east.

picked up all the bbc, itv, film 4 etc etc.

great buy! and so small you could throw it in a bag if you didnt want to lug the suitcase around!

    In Dublin by the way.

Would it pick up Hispasat from Cork by any chance ??? - wife is portuguese & would love to catch some news etc, but because of the orientation of the house - its just too difficult to rig up a dish - this one I could puit out the front whenever she wanted to use it ?
