Whats the story with everyone calling randomly?

was playing in a college tournament on tuesday 10 euro buyin and 300 euro for the winner along with second and third places.

Our college runs a league table and after only two events i was 5th, compared to the 4 ahead of me playing over 6 events...I really needed a win to get joint first as it was double points.

I'd gathered a massive chip lead heading to the final table, thinking id sit tight and let them knock each other out, but i found myself handed a nice pair of pocket Aces. Blinds where 800/1600, and I raised 3000, thinking id knock the weak hands out and be up against strong cards.

I got one caller and the flop came 2, 7, Q. The caller raised straight into meand i re-raised, who inturn then went all in and i instantly called.
He turned over a Q 6 offsuit, i was laughing to myself......turn is a 5 and river comes down 6

Im not the kinda guy to be going mad voer a beat but i found it a big odd someone call a big enough raise with a poor hand like q6,

whats even worse next hand i got dealt K K and i put in an ever bigger raise, another guy went all in, pops over cards 5 8 of hearts, im like " er what"

needless to say he won with two pair.

i was a bit raging cause its an event i should have won, but this absolute randomness just totally wrecked it....

just finding these days there is a serious rising amount of ridiculous callers

also, students games are going to be full of bad players, and the games are beatable, but that doesn't mean you can win all the time.
