USB Ports trouble

I bought an Acer Aspire 5672WLMI from laptopsdirect last May. In the last couple of days, two of the four USB ports have stopped working. I am not aware of doing anything that would have caused this. I am going to try a clean install of XP but before I do I would welcome any other suggestions that anybody can give.

Check Device Manager in the System applet in Control Panel, see if there are any yellow exclamation marks beside the USB controllers.
