Dell Desktop Request

Does anyone know how I can get a nice Dell desktop. I was on there site and the desktop was priced at 759 and i only added on a mouse which was an extra €50. By the time I got to checkout the total was over €1000. Does anyone know how I can get this cheaper. Are there any discount codes or is there anything else I can do to reduce the price??!!

    Thanks

Are you sure you removed all the warranties, and excess rubbish that they include by default? You have to go through the options pages very carefully to do this.

Also try the Dell Outlet Store. I got my PC through them and they can have great deals if you don't need all the peripherals you should have from any older PC.

ye just drop the hardware support option to 1 year collect and return and you will be able to get it at the advertised price and then just add what ever extras you want after that

That E4300 one is easily the best by a mile - best processor, best graphics and by far the best monitor. Unbelievable price.

Just some quick questions about this offer.

Is the CPU upgrade of €45 to a E6300 worth it?

    How does a 256MB ATI® Radeon® X1300 Pro graphics card

compare to a GeForce 6800GT compare.

And final question can I install my IDE drive from my old pc into this.

    Thanks in advance.

Which offer - the 4300 based one? If so, not much difference between that and the 6300 at all. The 4300 is 1.8Ghz, the 6300 1.86Ghz.

The 6800GT is much better then an X1300Pro.

I have a Dell Dimension 4300. The base unit is in very good condition, brand new logitech wheeled mouse, CD drive, 40Gb HDD, 768Mb RAM, old but working monitor, and Windows XP pro. PM me if interested. Will even throw in a printer!

Glad someone has resurrected this thread because I've news about how Dell price their PC's. I notice they now include 1yr Collect and Return Warranty as standard, instead of 3 years. That's fine but it removes an important way of reducing the price of their computers i.e. reducing the warranty from 3 years to 1 year. Also their prices across the board, even with EPP have gone up, not good news for bargain hunters. :(

I thought they always did this i.e. the quoted price only ever included 1 year warranty but then when you went to buy it they upped the price as only at that point did they put in the 3 year warranty in the hope for duping more people into doing it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,630 ✭✭✭Oracle

I'm not certain about that Jsb, I think a lot of the quoted prices on their web site did include 3 year warranty. Although yes you're right that regardless of the price quoted they always included 3 years warranty when actually ordering.

Its always been like that as far back as I remember. The new thing is the 90 day warranty. what ever thats meant to be considering EU law etc.
