Hook it up to your PC with a usb cable!!
It will open up as a new drive, in the root you will see a folder called PSP, open that up and then you will see a folder called Gamesaves. Copy it to your desktop.
Take out the old card and put in the new one and copy the folder from your desktop into the PSP folder!!

Is the 4gb card a genuine card or an ebay knock off??
I have 3 cards that I do this to and never have any troubles with them!!
Do you have Custom Firmware of anything like that??

its 2.7. the folders are set differently on both cards could this have something to do with it ?

Yes it may have something to do with it alright!!

Why don't you make a new folder on your PC and from your First card drag everything into it!! Then in the new card delete everything including the folders and drag everything back into it so you have an exact replica of your first card!!

yeah i was thinking of doing that but i didn't want to screw up the new card but sounds like i have nothing to lose
