I have a new external drive that i need to format as FAT32. When I go to disk management inside computer management I only get the option of NTFS. ANy idea how I can format it as FAT32?

FAT32 partitions can't be larger than 30 GB. If you really need to use FAT32, you'll have to create a partition of size 30 GB or smaller. You could do this and format the remaining, unpartitioned space with NTFS.

you sure about that partition size limitation, not doubting ya but my brother bought a mybook pro there a couple of weeks ago and it was formatted in FAT32 to allow windows/apple/*nix users to use it straight of of the box and there was one partition of 465gb.

Hmm, it seems you're right ethernet. If i set the paertition size to less than 32Gb i can create it as FAT32. I do remember being able to create FAT32 partitions greater than 32GB so I'll dig around google for a bit

well it seems you are partially right :) The 32GB limit is a limit of the WinXP formatter not of WinXP itself. I found a utility called fat32format that formatted it just fine. Thanks all.
