to cut a long story short, was trying out mce to see if it would work with the 360 for some reason it didnt. however the activation period elapsed and it wont activate [wont go into that, that has nothing to do with this problem]. i need to reinstall my geniune copy of xp that i orginally got with the desktop.

but the problem is that it will not boot the install disk, i keep getting "press F1 to retry, F2 etc..", ive tried knoppix live cd and dvd to try and the get the files off the harddrive, they arent really needed but it would be nice to have, but i keep getting the same error, ive tried the both the install disks on my laptop and they work so it has nothing to do with the burn speeds on knoppix, as for the xp cd i have no idea why that doesnt work.

if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated, is my last option a format? tbh i have no idea how to do that if i cant get into the system.

    thanks

    joe

Did you set up your BIOS to boot from the disk drive? Or the CD drive cable could be loose.
