Hi, down in west Cork, Glandore, so Mullaghanish is our transmitter. We'd be about 33 miles as the crow flies south of there.
What would anyone recommend for an aerial(s). We've 2 old aerials (A uhf and an old possibly vhf aerial) and there's interferance on both (Possibly from
each other) so we want to upgrade. They work relatively ok as we're high up so should get a good signal.
    Any suggestions/recommendations?
    thanks v. much.

Hi, welcome along. As you said, coming off Mullaghanish you still need two aerials for the 4 stations. So two new aerials, a Group A UHF for TV3 and TG4, and a VHF for RTÉ1/2, and new cabling is what's required. As you are upgrading now, I would fancy getting a Group W (wideband) aerial, to future proof IF/WHEN DTT goes to the main transmitters.

As for recommendations.... our aerial experts here will soon be along... hopefully :D

I got my VHF and UHF Grid in Dwyers up by airport if your passing someday, open Saturday morning. Got grid for 18 euro and vhf for 8 and uhf for parents for 5 (Last year). Also got televes booster and diplexing stuff which is what a lot of Cork installers seem to use from houses I have seen. Get decent cabling and if your up high, Dwyers had 100m WF100 (CT100 with differrent plastic centre) for 50 yoyos.
Ever think of throwing up a FTA satellite as your at it while your cabling to increase your channel choice as i find i don't watch a lot of irish anymore as more selection, 150 and you have all BBCs and ITVs thrown in with digital pic and lots of music and news all free.

    * Five element VHF aerial (for RTE)
*14 element Group A UHF or *18 element wideband UHF (for TV3 TG4 plus future digital services)
VHF/UHF diplexer (to combine the signals from the VHF and UHF aerials)
Cable and plugs (for gawdsake use DECENT quality stuff and not the junk typically sold by most hardware stores)
    Pole bracket/lashing kit etc

    * Number of elements required purely a wild guess on my part as Im not familiar with that part of the world

IIRC, all the DTT allocations for Mullaghanish are in Group A. I'd say the odds of those allocations changing are fairly slim. As far as Group A is concerned, using a wideband aerial incurrs a fairly big hit in performance. I'd reccomend to get a Group A. There is a wide selection of aerials to be had at www.cpconline.ie. Triax and Antiference would be good makes in aerials. The Televés stuff looks a bit flimsy to me.

Thanks all! Loads of useful advice.
Have a FTA Sky card/box and an old astra box as well so well covered there.
Should be sorted for the terrestrial now.
