i am i the only one thinking that the price is way too much for the playstation 3???? i mean how much better is it than the xbox 360 to justify i much higher price upon release?????????

It is the Blue Ray disc player that is driving the cost up. Sony are making a loss on each console.
A console is only as good as it's games.

although its a large amount of money for a gaming console..it does have alot of features such as blu-ray player which do cost 800+ euro or something..so your really gettign an all in one entertainment centre which for 630 is pretty good

in a year or so the price will drop and nearly everyone will have a ps3 in there home in the coming years

Will it not be the case that in 18-24 mths that production techniques for the players are nailed down and that the cost of the players will reduce signifcantly?

Finally, someone who agrees with me! I really don't think I could sleep at night knowing I got both a games console AND blue-ray player for a miserable €629.99. What's more, I just couldn't enjoy any game or movie knowing that Sony are loosing money on every single console .

My way of looking at it is that's great value for money, but relatively expensive if you're only focused on games..

Features. 360 has no HDdvd or Blu Ray Player as standard. Hard Drive is a third of the size. No HDMI.

(I'll openly admit the games on the Ps3 aren't up to scratch.)


When you account for the price of the Ps2 at launch, inflation, and the conversion rate between the Punt and the Euro, the price may not be as high as it seems.
