I was wondering will XtraVision be renting out Blu-Ray discs along with the launch of PS3? It just I would like to see what HD looks like, but dont want to spend €30 to buy a BD. Also will the price of renting PS3 games be the same or dearer than renting PS2 games? Thanks

The PS3 comes with the James Bond movie. Judge it on that.

Although Ireland is a very small market in the grand scheme of things, I think that if rental stores decide on which format of HD movie to rent over another, it would have an impact on the format war. Seeing these movies available for rent in your local Xtravision will bring them to the attention of the masses.

Xtravision has always supported the Sony consoles over the MS ones. Just look how log it took for them to start renting both X-Box and X-Box 360 games. But they start renting the Sony games on console launch day.

IMO, there is a good chance that they will start renting Blue-ray. The only thing is, there are so few of them out that it might not be worthwhile for a few months yet.

    Of course, I'm only speculating.

Don't remember the ad (I was probably mentally blocking it because Casino Royale was so awful), but they may have just been referring to movies for sale, rather than rent.
