I'm in the situation, I'm living in NZ right now on a working visa.

My employer will be sending out my DS2019 very soon, but he has already told me that the US ebassy frowns upon applications from a person in a foreign country. It really should be done in Ireland.
Not a hope will I travel back just for a visa appointment. The last time I got a J1 there was a 4-6 week waiting list. I think it is only one week wait here in Auckland.

Do you need a visa? Are you just on holiday or going to work?

If you're holding a standard Irish passport that's machine readable, have no criminal convictions and are going to visit for less than 90 days as part of travelling/holiday you should be ok.

    thanks for the info there.

ye its just for a 2 weeks holidays to las vegas before heading home - ill be coming from south america.

i presumed i would have to get a holidays visa - like i say i could find any info on the embassy site. i will have an exit flights aswell so that will count for something.

i can rest a bit easier for now until i know for def..
