Hey, im in waterford and i have a deposit for the PS3. when i went into the shop at the weekend to see what bundles they were offerin with it i was informed sony are only providing enough SECOND controllers for 1 in every 3! i kno there are prob alot of peop not intending to get a second controller but seems a bit of a farce after all the other stuff we have had to endure

Hey man if you dont really need a second controller for a good while , you may want to wait for sont to realease their sixaxis with rumble, although it could be as long as november before its released.

Hardware availability is always a problem at launch time. It happened with the 360 and the Wii. You could get any game you wanted, but not the controllers to play them with. I couldn't get HD cables for the 360 for a long while in Cork.

@morbo Do you have a prebooking in Cork? If so where'd ya book it and have they been in contact with you yet? I'm still waiting for a phone call from Smyths.

Had a call from GAME Liffey Valley earlier saying they hadn't got many of the extra PS3 controllers, so it'll be first come first served come 0730 on Friday....even for people who pre-ordered an extra pad (i.e. just cause you pre-ordered one early....doesn't mean a later pre-order can't get it ahead of you)..
Doesn't bother me, as I already have two with my Jap machine....but info nonetheless..

Slightly off-topic, have spent the last few days with the Sega VSHG (since the early releases timing issues have been fixed).....shame there not releasing it over here as its an excellent stick (not just for VF5, but also for MAME use etc..)....real arcade Sanwa stick and buttons means excellent durability.. http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-zl-49-en-70-1rjw.html
Works great under Vista...but reported OK under XP..
As far as I know they are releasing the Hori Fighting Stick (decent stick, but lacks real arcade components), but it doesn't quite compare with the VSHG or Hori's own high-end HRAP3 stick.....no firm word we'll see the Hori over here in Irish shops, but there's no issue importing from the likes of PlayAsia etc..

That's weird, 'cause I got a phone call from them soon after and asked was there a midnight launch after she said my PS3 would be ready to pick up friday, and she said there was. Hmm crossed signals methinks. The Smtyhs website says all stores are doing one. Strange, I'll be down town tomorrow at some stage anyway so I'll double check. I've nothing better to be doing at midnight tomorrow anyway :P

Of course you know what's going to happen now, I'll go in and they'll tell me there's no midnight launch, and you'll go in and they'll tell you there is. I smell a sitcom!

Nice one, thanks for checking it out, I don't think I could wait another night! Maybe the other one thought you meant for people who hadn't pre-ordered or something, or maybe she thought you were making conversation and were asking if she was working the midnight shift! :P I wonder if there's gonna be many people there? What time are you heading down at?

Can't see a huge crowd (but ya never know) so will go around midnight. they have a demo stand set up there with motorstorm running on a HD TV. Looks quality. The sixaxis controller is really light and is actually a nice change from the big old heavy Dualshock for PS2.

I just ordered am adaptor from Ebay for £1.50 Sterling.

It's supposed to allow you to connect your PS2 controller to the PS3.

I wonder will this work ok? I should know in a few days i guess:confused:

Why don't you just use the sixaxis controller that comes with PS3?

I didn't prebook one, But I did prebook a Wii with Smyths out by the Magic Roundabout (i.e. the Airport Roundabout), and they rang me at 7PM Thursday night to confirm a time for me to pick up the Wii on Friday. I got 6.30PM!
