    Hi there,

Need advice on an issue re downloads.

I have a dell laptop (new) with 4 USB ports, but no firewre connector.

I purchased a firewire to download video clips from camcorder, but obviously can't do this as the wire doesn't connect:confused:

Is ir possible to get a connection / cable that will allow me download the clips from the video camera to laptop, and then burn to CD through the USB ports

If this is a spec issue I'll go mad. I've had to return 1 laptop to Dell already with spec issues.

    Hope someone can help

    Thanks.

    Daconn (an IT newbie)

You could purchase a pcmcia firewire port for the laptop such as this one on ebay. you plug this into the side of your laptop and then you have a firewire port! Please note i am not recommending that seller just using it as an example. You could also pick up one of these in somewhere like maplins or of course from one of the many sellers on ebay

    A firewire what?

You have to be careful with Dell laptops as most of them now don't have PCMCIA ports. The problem being, if you order a PCMCIA card, you have nowhere to stick it. :)

    What model is the laptop?
