    Hi,

Myself and my friends are planning to head to Vegas at the end of July and start of August for a week. I want to know what experiences people have had and what Hotel would be best to go to. We are all in our mid twentys and it will be a lads holiday bascially.

    Cheers

Am heading there on Monday week for the second time.

How many of you are going? What kinda budget you got in mind for hotels?

    Got the flights booked yet?

Lucky you ! Was there last July, had a ball. My hotel of choice would be The Bellagio(Oceans 11) or try New York New York or Caesers Palace. Thats where most of the action is.Avoid Circus Circus, too many kids. You should get something cheap by booking early. Definitely do the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. You can fly/drive/helicopter....
Make sure you book a trip that lets you walk across the dam. Amazing.
Didn't find it expensive. Food and drink are cheap. Free drink in most places if you are gambling.(slot machines count) You do need time out though, it is incredibly busy, noisy and NEVER closes. Thats when you head to the canyon. There is so much to do, you won't see everything. Keep an afternoon free for shopping at the Las Vegas mall, a free bus runs up and down the strip. You can get all the usual Timberland, Vans, pressies for the family etc.Be prepared for very little sleep.

Hey I'm one of the said friends will be 3/4 of us going and budget is flexible. Mainly want to know what are the best places to stay in. So far have noted MGM, Bellagio, Hooters and Palace. If anyone has advice would be great. Also on another note if you guys know of any good sites for package deals - currently looking mainly at travelocity.com.

We are staying in Ballys. Stayed there before and the rooms were HUGE! It's a good price and well located plus you have Paris right next door and the Bellagio across the road.

Found www.expedia.com good for hotel prices in Vegas. They often have special deals too....like stay 5 nights for the price of 4.

Try and avoid packages - you will get it much cheaper if you book yourself. Check out the websites of all the major airlines. If you wanna go from Ireland you will have to go in via Chicago, New York or Philadelphia. Alternatively, you could go via London or Manchester. Of course, you will get the imigration stuff before you leave if you go from here.

If you get your flight sorted from here to, say Chicago, it might be worth checking out some of the budget airlines in the States. Travel agents here don't sell for them, so you will have to seek them out yourself. Check out http://www.mccarran.com/ and see what airlines service the city you will be coming from.

youll find most of the hotels are relativley similar in cost (aside from the high end hotels bellagio, venician etc) try and book a hotel on the strip. best bet is to book directly with the hotel online IMO. they are all quite affordable (they want your gambling money!). make a daily budget AND STICK TO IT!!!!! its soooo easy to get overwhelmed and go overboard. if you find that you get wiped out early and you will just take a step back try not to stress over it maybe go watch your mates play for a while, you will miss the overall experience if you get totally sucked into the gambling element. one thing to be careful of is that when you are gambling in any of the hotels that drink is free, again its easy to get carried away and if you get too boozed you know what will happen. they use every trick in the book to get you to part with your cash. im not trying to say that you should be a total flint with your money but just that its quite easy to go broke far to early in your stay and that is never a pleasent experience. take it all in moderation and you will have a ball :)

    edit:
it will be HOT HOT HOT!

I would say Ballys too for a first time visit, especially if it's a "lads" trip. Of course, if it's the classy beer, beer and ogling women sort of trip then Hooters might also be an option (the clue is in the name).

The Bellagio might be a bit OTT. Definitely set a daily limit, and stick to it. Make use of the hotel buffets and free drinks though, it'll save you buying them elsewhere ;)

I booked for 6 people last year. Spent ages pricing seperate flights and hotel, eventually got a better deal through www.touramerica.ie.
They run Delta charters , Dublin to Vegas via Atlanta. No complaints from any of our crowd.
