    Hi

There are 2 samsungs i'm wondering between
    the d73 139 euro and the s600 149euro
from what i can make out the d73 is the same as the s700?

    Any opinions?

    Thanks

Any reason why you want a Samsung?
    TBH they're pretty similar.
Looking at the specs the S700 goes up to ISO 1000 while the S600 only goes to ISO 400. ISO is effectively sensor gain that allows you to get bright well exposed images with faster (i.e. shorter) shutter speeds. Think of it as sensitivity to light. This is handy when shooting in dark places like pubs or at night where with old digi cameras you might find you get shakey or blurred images. However gaining up the light sensitivity of the sensor also gains up the sensors background noise and at high ISOs you will get a grainer image.
I'd go with the new model as Samsung must have improved the noise performance of the S700 if they let it go to ISO 1000.

Check out dpreview.com for user reviews tho.

Battery wise get rechargeable NiMHs. Lots og juice in them!

You can't really go wrong with a camera as long as you check you some reviews online. I would tend to lean towards the Nikons and Canons tho.

EDIT: my first point and shoot was a samsung, like all cameras of its generation it was slooowwww but was well built and easy to use so I can't knock them.
