Looks like I wont be able to watch Ireland V Pakistan today on Sky Sports as its an interactive match? What a shame as Ireland done so well against the other day. I was on the edge of my seat towards the end. Doesnt sky realise that a lot of their subscribers in Ireland have cable tv???

I feel for you mate. You'd think the cable provider would be able to over-ride the other match covered with the Irish match.

Its a real shame as people are actually getting into cricket here, which is good to see. Fantastic sport played by proper SPORTSMEN! No moaning, groaning, cheating etc. All my friends have Skysports via cable so no luck there. There is a chance of a sat feed on 15west for Pakistan TV but weather is very poor here today so weak signals a no no. Shouldnt complain to much, plenty of Sport to keep me out of the pubs on today.

Why they are showing India/Bangladesh on the main channel is beyond me. Bet they wouldnt do it for an England match. Are us in Ireland not that important?

It's not really that surprising if you think about it. Dont forget that there are HUGE Indian and Bangladeshi community's in the UK. I'm more surprised that Sky went with the interactive option at all instead of using one of the other 3 Sky Sports they have to show the 2nd live match.

i found a feed on 15west for pakistani tv. i watched the whole game. it was fantastic and nail biting towards the end. Ireland pulled off the biggest cricket upset of all time.

This is very true but you think since ireland is a whole ireland team and northern ireland part of uk they should have showed the match that was relevenent to the part of the country!!!!!
And not worry about the blow ins into the country.
    Somebody e-mail those clowns!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sky Interactive is exclusive to Sky Digital, I cant see the problem to be honest, People know what they are subscribing to and ifs it Interactive stuff they are after, well thay should be paying Sky Digital and not UPC.

The CL coverage is carried through the very same method.

I cant see how UPC could have any control over this, as its all Sky's doing.

how many irish teams in the Champions league??????? This is history with the cricket. Please note, Some people can only have cable tv and not allowed dishes. I know many many people in Galway that are not allowed sky and have to make to with cable.

Yeah, but your gripe should not be with UPC, Surely if it is so historic, maybe our state broadcaster should have got the rights to screen it.

unfortualtly sky have the rights. BBC/RTE do not. BBC show the highlights in the evening. Cricket is a growing sport here in Ireland, RTE do not have the kind of money to get rights for a sport like this. Anyway only a handfull of people would have interest to watch a cricket game live here. Sky broadcast to republic of ireland and not just UK. Preference always seems to be with English teams for broadcasting. Im sure in the old days sky used to broadcast sports on another channel eg sky one when thee was not enough space on existing sports channels. Also as far as i can see there is dedicated sports channels that are broadcast by sky for rep of ireland as they carry irish adverts. What stops sky broadcasting say the Ireland match on the skysports 2 rep of ireland channel and the other match on the Uk version of the sports channel. Thats what would happen on BBC if either any of the home countries where playing at the same time and BBC had the rights.

You with me and my point now??

Apart from ball-tampering, umpires offering to resign for money and players being drunk while in control of a pedalo

    It's just not cricket :D:D

Yeah, i totally understand where you are coming from, but as you said yourself, only a handfull of people over here would be interested in it. As you should be aware by now, The only thing that Sky care about with regards to their Irish customers, is how much more money they can squeeze out of us.

Fair point Aquos. But even a small minority should be catered (As it is the national Irish team playing) for as this small minority may grow into a larger majority!!!!! Cricket could be the new hurling DARE I SAY IT!

I know quite a few that mocked cricket until an interest has brewed in it over here. Now they talk about it at work and ask questions about the rules. This is a good thing.

I know its a bit off topic now and should really be in the sports section so I will shut up now.

Just imagine if we can beat the Windies???

and to think we did beat them not too long ago :)
