Don't think there's gonna be a source fest this year after promotors failed to
cough up the 40,000 to local services.:(

City to lose as Nowlan Park concerts called off
THE city is reeling following news that the lucrative outdoor concerts at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny will not go ahead this year.
Promoter Peter Aiken confirmed the bad news to the Kilkenny People yesterday evening (Tuesday).
Last year the gigs featuring Andrea Boccelli and Bob Dylan brought an estimated e10 million to the city over two weekends.
    Personal matter
Mr Aiken said part of the reason for the cancellation was personal.
He said that in the last few weeks he had an act in mind for the summer concert in the city's GAA headquarters.
"I was interested in bringing a particular person to Kilkenny but it just did not work out," he added.
Mr Aiken said there were other matters in the background regarding the aborted concerts which he did not wish to discuss.
Mr Aiken has forged a great relationship with Kilkenny GAA officials, who have been his partners in the concerts since they started six years ago.
    Turned down
However, it is understood from sources in the music industry, that Mr Aiken has turned down substantial financial sums to relocate the summer concerts to Waterford and Killarney.
"Mr Aiken has shown serious loyalty to the city and he should be repaid for it, something which has not happened thus far," Mayor of the city, Cllr Martin Brett said in a reaction to the news.
"I hope that the tourism interests in the city and environs will have the vision to realise we cannot afford to lose Mr Aiken or his concerts," the Mayor said.
He has called for an immediate meeting between Mr Aiken and all tourism interests in the city including hoteliers, vintners and other sectors to safeguard future concerts and the festival built around them.
"We cannot afford to lose this to another city or town - they are queueing up to bring Peter aiken to there place," the Mayor said.
