Card not initialized ???

Can anyone help me out? I have a Fuji Finepix F450. Everytime I go to upload photos onto the internet and then unhook the camera I get this message 'Card not initialized' and it won't allow me to take photos ! The last time it happened I brought it to a camera shop and yer man fixed it but I didn't think to ask him what I had done wrong .... lo and behold it has happened since and I want to use my camera this weekend. What am I doing wrong? It's probably something really simple but I tried the fuji website and don't have the patience to trawl through all the info .... Thanks in advance. Have a great Paddys.
