Hard reset, now POST takes three minutes

    My pc froze so I had to do a hard reset. I held in the power button until it shut down, then booted it back up. But upon restart, it just hung after detecting the cpu. Doesn't even get to the drives or anything. Just stays at "memory testing" for about three minutes and then continues to boot. It keeps doing this each time it boots now. Its an athlon64 3400+ socket 939 cpu, with a phoenix bios and an MSI MS-7010 motherboard. Is it on its way out? Is my memory screwed? Or do I need to change a bios setting or just remove the battery for a while to let it reset? After it boots it functions perfectly, no problems at all.

    Try going into the BIOS and finding an option like "fast boot" (set to on) or "compatibility mode" (set to off), see if it makes any difference.

    Fast boot is set to on, I know that. Didn't see any compatibility mode

    Try loading setup defaults

    Loading failsafe defaults worked. Through process of elimination disabling onboard usb fixes the problems. What does this mean, is my onboard usb controller fried?

    <edit>

    I opened up the case and checked the connections for the front usb ports, I disconnected and reseated them, worked like a charm. Must've come loose somehow.
