Anyway, here we go again. We got NTL in November. And the same problem keeps coming up.

Cue, watching bbc tonight and up pops the 'you have no subscribed to this channel' message. We've lost RTE1 (but not rte2  ), BBC, UTV, Channel 4 (but not E4).

Anyone have any advice? Or are we down till next week.

The engineer who came last time said it was the piece of **** Pace digiboxes. But surely the same exact fault shouldn't be happening again and again?

    Cheers,
    Quad

resetting the box should do it, either unplug it at the back, or hit the helpbutton and reset by pressing yellow, i think it is

Pieces of junk. If the box gets left on for more than about 24 straight, it freezes or you get a message suggesting 'your card is missing' or 'you are not subscribed to this channel'

We have the exact same problem here. just reinsert the card and power off and back on all all should be fine.

Ring ntl and demand a replacement box. Which you are intitled to.

the card in the box moves out ever so slightly sometimes due to temperature changes in the room, pushing in the card the last mm again even while the pace box is on always brings it back for me.

The box in the sitting room in our house tends to just go completely blank (black screen, no memus, is getting power tho) fairly regularly.

Have to unplug/replug it to get it to work again. Thankfully though I kept Sky+ in my room. The NTL EPG is crap, slow and next to useless for quickly checking what's on, never mind that a lot of the channels (particularly +1's which I'd think are more important to a service that doesn't offer a PVR) are missing.

Cheers for the advice guys. Tried resetting but it didn't work. Put the card in and out but it didn't work. Plugged it in and out to no avail.

Then, just as I was announcing to my girlfriend that I was planning to burn NTL headquarters down, it came back.

    A coincidence?? I think not....

Get the Di300 box. Ok it's bigger and only has one scart output but at least the feckin things work. Get it replaced with the same type box and you could end up with one that will do the exact same thing.
Some are worse then others but I've yet to see one that doesn't have a card read/comms error fault logged.

Where would one get one of those?

Via a service call unfortunately. These are still available for service techs to use for replacements. You'd have to tell them you don't what the small box but a 300 instead but you'll probably know the odds on that getting though to the tech although some tend to have a few of each type on board.
Haven't had the "you're not subbed" thing popping up in a while but what happens tonight.... reboot sorted it.

I get this almost every day now .
I came home from a weekend away to find all the stuff I had scheduled to record on Sky One (I have the Scart out hooked up to my MCE PC) was 4 hours of "You have not subscribed to this channel". I reset the box on Saturday, just before I left, and still to no avail - the the stuff on Sunday didn't record.

The annoying thing was most of the stuff I wanted to record were Sky One/Two's reshowings of stuff that had failed to record as I got the same damn "you are not subscribed" BS message on Thursday and Friday!!! Grrrr..

I think a call to NTL (*crosses fingers*) is in order.

I've never had a problem like this. I've no idea of the STB model but mine is fairly big (about 3/4 years old at this stage), Can I presume the faults lie with the newer smaller box?

Same problem here - happens maybe once or twice a week on the small Pace box. Re-insterting card without a reset seems to work most times.

I have the smaller box and get no problems like this at all.
