What’s this got to do with things military? We’re Paddies, we don’t have military? Not in the real sense of the word anyway.

Obviously the Defence Forces provide personel for ceremonial duties on public occassions such as parades on our National holiday etc. as per Steyr's post above. Did you never see one?
    We’re Paddies
No we're not. We are Irish. There is a difference. Paddy is derisory term directed at us by foreigners who believe themselves to be superior to us.

Wrong. We most certainly do, and a very professional one at that.

Now just to put you straight, this is the Miitary Forum not the Anti-Military Forum.
Trolls and muppets are not welcome. If you think you can come around here stirring the shit you are very much mistaken.
Your next derogotory post will be your last. End of story.

I am not anti military; I am very much pro military. It makes me weep to see us with no air force, a tiny army that is only suitable to back up the police and an ineffective navy / fishery protection force. The government spend on defence will have to be increased about 10 fold for us to have a proper military.

I saw four Air Corps planes flying in formation over Kilkenny on Paddy's day...looked like they were heading Waterford direction. Was there a fly by at the parade there does anyone know?
