Thinking of going to either Croatia or Montenegro at the end of June. Has anyone else been ? What did you think ? Where would you recommend staying?
    Thanks

don' stay in lapad, stay closer to Dubrovnik,
Hvar and the islands are amazing
3-4 days you would do Dubrovnik really well

I'd recommend hiring motorbikes and heading for Montenegro for the day from Dubrovnik. You'll see enough of it that way

Me and my partner went to Montenegro last summer. It's a nice place. We stayed in a hotel called the Queen Of Montenegro...I'd strongly recommend that. Also did a boat trip to Croatia for a day...that was a disaster..spend about 5 hours on the boat and didn't see much of Dubrovnik at all.

    Would 100% agree with vasch_ro.

Goto the islands and bring swimmming gear as great places to swim.

Croatia's great! My favourite place. I was in Dubrovnik in 2002, kinda quiet, but still very chilled (bar the blistering heat). Went there again last year with GF. Much livelier, good bars, clubs. There's great swimming there. We stayed on Lopud Island too, not far from Dubrovnik. Quiet but gorgeous and perfect couple-territory (assuming ye can stand each other!). Some nice nude beaches there too!

Was there last year, went to Dubrovnik and a couple of the islands, Korcula and Hvar. Well worth travelling around, it's a lovely country. Was particularly impressed with Hvar.

I was there a few years ago. I traveled the coast in about 10 days. I stayed in Pula, Split and Dubrovnik and did day trips to different places. From Pula i was in Robinj and Porec, from split I was on Hvar and Brac islands and in Dubrovnik I was going to go to Korcula but in the end just took it easy in and about Dubrovnik.

It's a beautiful country and I think once you visit you'll definitely be back again. There are loads of threads on this board about it too so probably try to search it (using google I guess)

Just what I was looking for!!

I'm heading to Pula for a week at the begining of June. Could ye recommend a hotel? There's 4 of us heading over and we're looking for a classy hotel! Also is there any must see or must do things we should look out for?

Was in Hvar during the summer. When I arrived I was in a narky mood after getting two trains from Venice, but I loved it. If you can, rent a bike while you're there!

I'm not from Pula so I can't really give some good advice.
I was there once and it's really nice town...for must see is a gladiator fighting arena...something like Roman Colosseum but smaller.

    anyway, chek it out here

I stayed in the hostel, so not sure about hotels. The hostel is a little out of the town but it's on the sea beside a rocky beach. Almost all beaches in Croatia are rocky not sandy. As has been said the highlights around Pula for me were the Colosseum and Rovinj.

    Hi,

I'm also planning a trip to Croatia. Can you recommend any hotels/B&Bs in Sibenik? Was thinking of staying there for a couple of nights and travelling to Krka National park from there?

Also - for anyone who has been, do you have any info on whether its possible to get a bus from Zadar to Plitvice? I'm getting conflicting answers!

Ok, in Sibenik there is only one hotel and it's not really cheap so it's better for you to stay in small town of Vodice, it's 7km from Sibenik. It's a little beautiful tourist town with lot of hotels, you can go from there to Sibenik and Krka without any problems, here is link

This is the best to do if you are planing to come here.;)

P.S. I think I deserved one big Irish flag when all of you come here:D

Spent a month going around Croatia last Summer. It was amazing. I visited Dubrovnik, Split, Makarska, Hvar and Korcula. I would avoid Split to be honest. It's just a large urban jungle which smells and the accomidation isn't as good value as elsewhere. The islands are amazing. Be careful getting accomodation on Hvar too as there are some real rip off merchants going around.

Mik how'd ye get on in Pula. Myself and two mates are thinking of heading over in a month, and would like to know if it is any use. We'd be up for having a few beers, and have done all the resorty type stuff, so wouldn't be too bothered about going on a mad one. The beaches look cracking, and I have heard good things abour Rovinj.

    Cheers.
