"During the exam period Tuesday 17th April 2007 to Saturday 23 June 2007 the fine for late return of library material will be increased to E1.25 per hour (or part of). This policy was introduced through discussions with the students' union and ensures a better circulation of heavy-demand material."

Check your return dates folks and remember books can be renewed online!!

1.25/hour is only for reserve books, isn't it? Books that you've taken out are 2.50/day under the super fines... those are the ones you'd be renewing online.

What does the library do with the fine money? Charity? A book fund? Piss ups for librarians?

I'd say they replace missing books. Buy new ones. Fix broken ones.
But i couldnt imagine there is as many fines as we would think. Most people dont want to pay them so renew the book or bring it back, or am I completely wrong here?

It would seem logical that the money raised get put into a library budget thingy and pays for general expenses or petty cash type things.

I would like to know how much it receives annually from fines though, must be at least 20,000? I've paid about 10euro this year...
