    Hi,

I am just wondering about joining a tennis club.

I used to play a lot at home in Laois, and was member of a club there.

Id love to be able to play in a club every week once or twice over the next few months?

Has anyone got any ideas? Looked up a few places but it seems that you have to know someone already in the club to have any elligibilty to join.

Thanks very much for any help.

Have you checked the tennis Ireland website?

I have, and have found clubs in Donnybrook and Sandycove which i could get to on the Dart, but on their websites it requires me to be proposed and seconded to join

That's usually not that difficult to do. I would imagine once you have the money and are willing to participate in the club you'll get proposed and seconded easy enough.

There are lots of clubs in the Blackrock area. Nearly all of them will be more than happy to have new members. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a club handy to get to without using the Dart. Very few clubs actually follow through on the proposer and seconder requirements these days. There doesn't seem to be many that have websites, but a full list of clubs can be found on the Leinster Branch website here:

Just click on the Clubs & Players section at the top and then then the Club Contacts section on the left side.

If you are looking for a friendly club that is open to new members try Mount Pleasant in Ranelagh. www.mountPleasantltc.ie
Why not come along on Saturday 31st at 5:30 for the friendly american tournament. There should be a good buzz, and also a BBQ afterwords. ;)
