NRA PPP Roads Programme - M7 Portlaoise to Castletown/M8 Portlaoise to Cullahill Motorway
    March 2007

The National Roads Authority, having carefully considered the BAFO Offers received from the shortlisted Tenderers, has identified the Celtic Roads Group Consortium, (NTR plc, Royal BAM Group, Iridium Concessiones & Dragados S.A.), as the Tenderer with the most economically advantageous offer.

The Authority will now proceed with discussions with CRG as Preferred Bidder. The Contract award is planned for Summer 2007.

From awarding the contract to construction start is usually how long???

Cos Summer 07 is pushing it for a 2010 completion.

Same for the Mitchelstown - Fermoy N8 section. Still in planning. Complete by 2010??? Getting doubtful.

My Mum tells me that someone from the NRA was on Midlands Radio 3 yesterday (Friday 16th March), talking about the contract being awarded and how they expect to see work begin on the ground in June.
Contractors have been in during February, removing the hedges and replacing with wire fences.

Anyone know if this is going to be another narrow median job like Fermoy and Cashel?

My guess (and it is just a guess) would be yes, as theres slightly less landtake, and so money saved.
