Is Three Rock or Clermont Carn stronger to the south of Drogheda? You'll probably need an external aerial but it depends where exactly you live and if you're on a height etc.

Slim chance of getting on the official trial and receiving all of the channels. Some are FTA, others are encrypted or need equipment, not yet on sale.

Assuming you're close enough to the transmitter, see above. You can receive RTE1, RTE2, TG4 and TV3 plus basic radio channels using a cheap UK DTT receiver or with a USB DVB-T stick. Either should cost 100 euro or less. Some new TVs come with the receiver built-in, just tune it in.

Quality is excellent. You'd think it was HD.

BUT: There's a strong chance that when DTT goes live, you'll need different equipment (which the electrics industry will be delighted to sell to you). So, be prepared to write-off whatever you spend.

The Equipment is very standard as is the encription. It's a closed trial, so viewing cards are not available. Some channels may be FTA (no card) most of the time.

Don't spend money till the Government announces the actual roll out plans or the gear could be obsolete or poor value.

Quality is OK (i.e. identical to Sky properly aligned), but you would never think it is HD, if you have seen HD on a *REAL* HD screen.

Quality is akin to DVD but certainly not HD.

Is there a DTT TX on Clermont Carn. I know from recent experiences that DAB reception in Drogheda is poor (at least in the McDonalds car park by the Boyne!). Though, one would expect that as it's in a valley.

There is already a DTT, How To... Stickied thread dealing with this sort of query.
