yes i was there there is lovely scenery but the big draw back is that it is not very safe and you cant leave the hotel complex without hiring a minder to go with you so for shopping a guy from the hotel is paid 20 dollars per person we gave 80 dollars to go out shopping for the afternoon we were a group of 4 women so I am not sure if you had males in the party would you be advised to do the same.It would put me off the place that I could not go off myself to see a place. The hotels were lovely but I am not sure how safe the place is this was 4 years ago and there was lots of poverty every where and roobbing tourist is one way of feeding the family.

Yep Jamaica is meant to be one of not so nice countries in the Caribbean. There are much nicer islands that you could go to that aren't as crime ridden. Even Barbados isn't that safe (downtown) but if you stay in the resort you'd be fine.
