If this was following Season 1 or Season 2, i'd be devastated but not too pushed now.

Interesting to learn that Rob Thomas filmed an FBI-type trailer for Season 3. At least it would have been outta the college campus. Would have probably been quite an interesting take on things.

    From Ain't It Cool News:
There’s no official word from The CW, but E!’s Kristin Veitch says she has heard from several sources that “Veronica Mars,” my pick for the best TV series of 2006, will not be back for a fourth season.

The E! story would seem to render moot a Friday-morning Hollywood Reporter story detailing "Mars" mastermind Rob Thomas' possible plan to skip ahead several years, get all Clarice Starling with the show and have season four deal with Veronica's freshman year at the FBI Academy. The Reporter story even says Thomas "is filming a trailer" for the FBI version of "Mars" that will be presented to The CW.

The final five completed third-season episodes are set to air in April and May.

Read all of E!’s report here.

Well thats ghey. I haven't been keeping up to date with the show and usually hate these gawd damn American "model" type TV shows (dont ask). But this was a gud un and would have been better set outside of the education type, help out me schoolmates type settings!

"Best of 2006"? Dont think so but it is a good show with some deadly storylines.

I agree with basquille that this show has had it's run...
But the idea of a FBI style show a few years in the future sounds awful tempting...
So i'll be sad to see it go.

Update on this from Aint It Cool News:
E!’s Kristin Veitch stuck up two stories within hours of each other Thursday night.

The first, posted at 6:26 p.m., was headlined “Exclusive! Veronica Canceled”

The second, posted at 10:11 p.m., featured a headline with different punctuation: “Veronica Mars: Canceled? Here’s What I Know …”

Some key excerpts from the second post:
I just heard from Veronica mastermind and showrunner Rob Thomas, who told me, "If we're canceled, I certainly don't know about it."
So, bottom line: Veronica Mars could be: (1) spinning off into a new [FBI cadet] format, (2) returning in her college years or (3) getting axed.

So it appears that “Mars” mastermind Rob Thomas is still filming a presentation reel for The CW that would set season four a few years in the future, during Veronica’s freshman year at the FBI Academy.

Would Keith move out to Quantico, Va., to become an instructor there or something? Would it be the same show without Mac, Wallace, Weevil and daddy Mars?

To be honest.. i'd be interested in the moving of Veronica to the FBI. Anything to get her outta that college campus!

    I'd probably keep watching anyways.

I haven't seen season 3 so maybe I'm wrong in saying this but is that FBI idea not absolutely HORRIBLE? it sounds so contrived!

Contrived? Yes! More interesting than the season 3 setting of Hurst College campus. Hell yes.. that wouldn't take much!

Au contrare..... both Kristin Veitch and Michael Ausiello are typically very accurate in their info. But you do get a few duds from time to time. The only official confirmation will be The CW's announcement of renewals in May.

I'd be somewhat expecting a cancellation though to be honest!
