Crush an alka selzer into fine powder, then snort it.

I'll hopefully have drank enough water not to get a hangover.

Pretty common question on here. On a previous thread I read a recommendation for Chlorella (a tablet made from some sort of algae). It's great for helping the body process toxins. Take them before you start drinking.

Anyway I keep a bottle of it handy and it never fails to help, along with the usual dose of water of course.

Two pints of water before going to bed after a night out, or if i forget to do that ill have a nice fry up in the morning and a nice fat green one and a dvd.

    Pfft, don't be daft!

OP, the cinema may be dark and warm, but its also quite loud-might not be too soothing?

Excellent plan, but that's more of a preventative measure rather than dealing with the after effects, which is what this thread is about.

Personally though, I find nothing helps me when I get a hangover, and the hangovers have just been getting worse and worse for me, so I think I'll be drinking a lot less from now on.

Sleeping. Get up to have something to eat and then back to bed. It's dark (thick curtain's) warm, cosy and quiet.

After a heavy nights drinking I take 2 tylenol/painkillers washed down with a pint of water BEFORE going to sleep. I feel great the next day, and I haven't woken up dead yet!

Sounds like a decent oul plan! Except that American Idol sucks, so replace it with the West Wing season 3

Ahh, nothing like Jolt for that smooth transition from alcohol shakes to caffeine shakes.

I probably won't be drinking on St Patricks day, but I look forward to wandering around on Sunday morning pretending I'm the one survivor in a zombie movie.

A glass of Andrew's liver salts before the drinking begins. Primes your liver for the onslaught. The next day, take two alka selzer, a bottle of lucozade (preferably the fizzy stuff, not sport), and a tuna melt roll.

Just stay drunk there's no need to deal with it until tuesday morning

Please tell me Andrew's Liver Salts aren't as gross as they sound?

They are not too bad. Put a spoon of it into half glass of water and drink.

They're not made of liver :-)

They used to be the cure-all for upset stomachs back when I was a kid. You stick a teaspoon in a glass of water, and it all fizzes up like when you put a tablet in water. Then you drink it. It doesn't taste bad by any measure.

i'm working the lunch shift on sunday. two of my fellow waitresses have booked it off ( :( ) and it's mother's day! so, i'll probably sweat off the hangover, spill some soup and then go on the beer again ;)

Crazy, I know, but I've always found that knowing my limits and/or pacing myself works much better all round than cramming alcohol into you in the desperate fear that there won't be any left in the country on the 18th. God, I'm such an abnormal freak, aren't I?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 289 ✭✭louisecm

Dont be so sarcy Sarky! I have found that these days, 3 glasses of wine stretched over an evening can give me just as big a hangover as 17 pints, 10 vodkas, a champagne cocktail and 3 baby guinness so unfortunately pacing yourself and knowing your limit does not always work my friend.
