Tbh your best bet for Dell Adapters is Ebay. I was looking for a replacement for my laptop for ages before I gave up and just bought one from some dude in Hong Kong.

yeah, its probably gonna come down to that. went to back from the future today. they had one. lovely people, but it was €90 :| . might as well wait for a week than paying for a power adapter nearly as much as getting a new laptop!!

Well, I got mine for under €20 including p&p, but I did buy a second as back up cos the first has a tendancy to stop working temporarily if it gets hot. Although the original Dell one fell apart after a year or so, damn Dell...

Just make sure it is the same wattage as your old one, some of those on eBay are a little lower and the laptop will have difficulty functioning properly.

I think I saw a multi-adapter universal power supply for laptops in PC World, also in Maplin. Its a normal power supply with about 10 different adaptors with it, they list the laptops it works with on the pack. I think it was Belkin: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=363025

thanks oracle. i went down to maplin as well. when i asked a guy about if he had any to work with the laptop he was like "if its a dell, go and buy it with dell". needless to say, i wasnt very happy and just left.

The problem with Dell is they have finicky connections for their adapters and they change them on a regular basis so even if you find an adapter with the right wattage, etc. it probably won't connect. In short, they're assh*les.

i know. i saw the round connection first and i was like "wee, no more weird square dell proprietary adapters".then i tried my universal laptop connector - imagine the amount of egg on my face when i realised that was not going to happen. even though all were round... :( but i still wasnt very happy with the way the guy answered me. not great customer care?
