NEW LOOK - 'SOURCE' PHOTOGRAPHY MAGAZINE AT '50'

Source - the only creative photography magazine to be published in Ireland, is one of the leading such titles in Ireland and the UK. The quarterly marks the publication of its 50th edition in March 2007 by re-launching with a new format and new design, more pages and more features.

Formerly an unusual landscape format, Source is now 'slightly off-square'. There will also be 88 rather than the previous 72 pages, allowing for larger portfolios and more reviews. Each issue will now feature an extensive illustrated interview with an established artist - this issue it's John Stezaker - and columns discussing advertisements, law and photography in the marketplace.

Source's portfolios will continue to showcase the best previously unseen contemporary photographic work. Major commissioned essays by informed writers will lead critical debate on photographic culture. There will be reviews of the most important photographic exhibitions taking place in Ireland and the UK, and reviews of books from a range of international publishers.

    LAUNCH EVENTS

Source will be celebrating its new look 50th issue with launches at Belfast Exposed on 23 March 2007 and the Gallery of Photography, Dublin on 24 March 2007. The centrepiece of each event will be a panel-based photo quiz, with visual aids and questions posed by Source co-editor Richard West, 'pitching the insight and vision of curators and academics against the intuitive practical wisdom of photographers and artists in an epic battle for the very soul of lens-based media.' Teams include:-

    Belfast:
Photographers: Julia Healey, Susan MacWilliam, and Sylvia Grace Borda.
Curators: Des Bell, Daniel Jewsbury and Colin Darke.

    Dublin:
Photographers: Sean Hillen, David Farrell and Theresa Nanigian.
Curators: Martin McCabe, Vaari Claffey and Declan Long.

Both events are free to all visitors - 7-10pm. Just turn up on the night.
Further details will be posted on the Source website:-
