startup stuff in ubuntu - how do I turn off GNOME Settings Daemon.

    only happens on the main account in ubuntu - other logons fine

    This mail list suggests that logging in though the command line and deleting the users ~/.gconf* files should clear the issue up. I presume new default files get built when you log in through Gnome next.
