    Hi,

I'm looking for something for my mother so she can record her choir sessions - any ideas? Only have a budget of around 100 euro - so any suggestions would be great. She'll be looking to use a microphone - should have mentioned that, so the basic recording feature via built in mic in most mp3 players will not do - needs to have an input jack.

    thanks

The Zen V plus has an input which you can plug a microphone.

In order to get a good recording, you really need a good microphone, that is omni-directional, especially for a choir recording

    available in 1, 2 or 4 gb

    good luck ;)

If you can get your hands on an iRiver h100 or h300, they have recording with mic in. Would have to be 2nd hand as they're not made anymore.
    I have rockbox on mine - http://www.rockbox.org/
and use if for recording direct to mp3. very handy.

Sweet - I had thought of this, but the input jack is what looks like 2.5mm instead of 3.5 - does that mean I've to use an adaptor to use a microphone?

    Thanks

Zen Vision M has a built in microphone too. Quality wasn't too bad from recording at a deafening metal gig. Would in theory be a lot better at something like a choir recital.
