Any good? Does it do anything that word does not do? Just wondering cos Word pisses me off sometimes with its auto update of line spacing or numbering, bullets etc. (I know it's probably something you can sort in word itself but still...)

    All opinions observed...

It is good. I use it on my linux machine. Tis a bit on the slow side to start up but on a decently spec'd machine you should have no problems.

OpenOffice does the line spacing and bullet things aswell. I'd say pretty much all advanced word processors do. I tend to use Textedit or something simple like that and stick to rtf documents, but each to their own.

very good, i have installed it on commerical sites instead of word and excel and created shortcuts to the open office wp and spreadsheet program and just called them word and excel and the users didnt know the difference, the only slight bugbear is that it default to saving docs in its own open office format, you have to select .doc or .xls from the save as menu, to be expect though im sure

I've used the Word Processor and Spreadsheet a good bit in OpenOffice and its astonishing how good it is!

The bonus is that its free and it opens all Office documents and you can save OpenOffice documents as Office documents.

    Great stuff!
