As I recall there was a guy around recently doing it on Boards, perhaps a search? He showed some examples of his airbrushing work, looked pretty nice.

Herc Fede is pretty much the man for your job in question. Ive a rake of pictures of Fede's paintwork if you want it.

To be honest, if youre serious about it, i'd post over on Jemsite, theres a mllion guys who have had the exact same job done - if you want a professional result youre better off looking overseas. A JS body doesnt weigh much, you'll ship it over and back to the UK/US for very little.

Yeah Jemsite, or theres another satch forum somewhere that has a bunch of people who have custom paintjobs on Js's they prob help u out more cant remember the link off the top of my head

K -Thanks - i thought i'd just ask locally first... the paint job i need isn't fine art or anything... it's this one >>> http://www.satriani.com/satch_frames/guitars/med/blue_donnie.jpeg <<< hehe.... i just haven't been able to get it out of my head since i saw this years ago :)

As you say, the paintjob youre looking for is called a donnie, after the original artist Donnie Hunt. I'd imagine searching jemsite for 'donnie' will turn up dozens of threads of people who have had their JS painted that way.

While it's not fine art, if your JS is a good one (JS1000 up), youll presumeably want the job done properly, ie well painted and laquered, and in the same glow in the dark paint, which is why i'd suggest looking overseas.

Im not sure if Herc does requests anymore, but he has painted quite a few donnies : http://www.fededesigns.com/images/photos/gallery/509719.jpg

Sims customs in the UK might be worth talking to. Theyve not done a donnie AFAIK, but i'd imagine they could if you supplied them with enough pictures. Ive priced work off them before and it seemed quite reasonable.

Doesn't have to be glow in the dark paint :) - just look like that from about 1 foot away :) - i'm not too fussy, just that the laquer would have to be done properly for sweaty gig hands etc....

If i can't get it painted then i'll do a jimi hendrix at the pod ;P

I'll do it for you... One thing I use can laquer .. If you want ye can get it laquered yourself bt ive done a few guitars and I never had a complaint about the laq I use... pm me .

check out my friends website Sean is one of irelands foremost airbrush artists who specialises in custom paint mainly for motorbikes but he has done several guitars and the quality of his work is amazing. Although he lives in Sweden now he spends every 2nd month or so here as the demand for his work is so high.He is currently working on a bass for me based on a confederate flag re worked as a tribal design. i hope to put some pics up here when its done.Hes due back in about 3 weeks and you can contact him through his website

I don't think much business would have gone his way anyway...You'd be an idiot to pay someone to paint a guitar based on a few motorbike helmets or whatever. The painting is the easy bit, its the prep, grain-filling, wet-sanding, laquering etc that make a good guitar re-finish. Leave it to the pro's and not someone who paints skanger-bangers.

If this is classed as advertising then 99.9 percent of boards users would be banned. This seems to mean that anyone who answers a question that begins with "who?", "what?", or "where?" can be be accused of advertising the person, thing or place they recommend

Sorry Feylya, I got the wrong end of the stick. You're doing a great job. I am now going to wear a pointy hat and sit in the corner for an hour!
