Pension Question

    Im asking this on behalf of a mate

    If i avail of the pension scheme in a council in the UK (local government pension scheme), can you transfer your pension/cash it in when you return to ireland?

    We haven't a clue on this issue and just want a heads up.

    I don't want to say a definitive yes but usually. The best thing to do is to check with the administrators of the scheme in UK and ask for leaving service options. Unless there is something specifically tied in to the contract, you should be able to. Sometimes it can be frustrating getting relevant paperwork signed etc. You might want to post the question on www.askaboutmoney.com
