cd changer problems

I've just installed a sony cd changer and head unit. radio works fine but no sound out of cd. any ideas? (and yes I've checked the cables):)

Is there power to the CD changer? Ejecting the deck at least should tell you that.

The only other thing I can think of is if you might be using burned CDs. My changer doesn't like some types and tries to skip to the next one.
