Definitely wait! Had to do an archive and install recently after an update messed up something in my network access.

    Any problems been reported yet?

installed, no issues so far. Normally im cautious and wait, but usually just with firmware updates. I have never had any issues with system updates before.

No issues so far either and... seems to have finally added iSync support for the Nokia N73!

The webcam will need to support the USB video profile. If it doesn't, and the vendor has done a "proprietary job" instead of supporting standards, you won't get it to run I'm afraid.

Cheers for that, suspect I should have 'invested' a bit more than 15 quid in my webcam....

Ah well, it works ok on my trusty PC....

Update now or wait a few days to see if there any issues?
    It's a hefty size. Intel delta (10.4.8 to 10.4.9) update is 160MB, combo (10.4 to 10.4.9) update is 310MB.

No problems here.... roll on Leopard!

Still running 10.4.8 here, never see a reason to upgrade, what came with this MBP last year has not caused me any problems. I'll wait for Leopard.

Now this raises something interesting. A friend with an older PPC mac laptop (forgive me) said to me last night that he has not updated since he got 10.4.5. His works fine and has never needed / wanted to upgrade.

Having said that, I did the repair permissions - update - repair permissions thing last night and no problems so far. If anything my intel iMac is working slightly faster.

There is one thing I noticed: the eject button now needs to be held down to eject a CD rather than just pressed. It needs to be held for about a second. Appart from that nothing of great importance

I'm loving this! I usually always hit eject while I'm taking notes in a lecture and always get looks from people around cos of the noise!!

But couldn't you just, y'know... NOT leave a disc in the tray? :D

Downloaded for my C2D iMac. No negative side effects so far. It has not affected the Airport update (still working perfectly) and on the positive side it seems to have fixed my Bluetooth connection problems and the OpenGL update seems to have made graphical effects slightly more nippy.

It still actually makes a noise. At first I didn't like the new feature, but I'm the same I always press it by accident on my laptop so I'm kinda glad of it now!

Not sure it's possible, there's no easy way of doing it that I know of! I had a problem with a security update recently and had to do an archive and install which was a pain in the ass but fixed my problems and got rid of loads of updates - then used a combo-updater to bring my machine back up to date. Best way to avoid certain updates is to untick them in Software Update and choose Ignore Update in the Update menu.

Updated to 10.4.9 as soon as Software Udate informed me - no issues, network or otherwise. I always update once prompted and never had any issues.

But really looking forward to Leopard - the Time Machine app has my attention for some reason.............

My Bootup slowed down noticably when I upgraded to 10.4.8 (from 10.4.6)

I upgrade to 10.4.9 last night and no change in speed, no other issues at the mo though

    And it was only 99.4MB
