Opening band required for 40-45 min set in Boom Boom Room on fri 23rd of March, must pay 1 third rent but will take home 1 full third of any profit. Rent 59euro per band. Please PM me with myspace or Bebo links to your music. Classic rock genre. Other gigs lined up, successful band may be asked to play 2 more including one in the sugar club.

    Cheers,

    Rob

    Eh........Hello?

    It's a gig..........Anybody?

I'm talking to a band, but I thought I'd offer it around and see if we could get anyone that suits the music style better, the offer will remain open until tomorrow and then I'll book them.

The fact is you have to rent out a room to play a gig and you have to put a deposit on that room. I don't believe in Pay to Play but it's how it happens around here because the city is too small or there's not enough venues.
If you know how to organise a gig without money first changing hands then please do share this info. It would be greatly appreciated.

I only know of one venue in Dublin that isn't pay-to-play and that's Fibbers, grand spot, but you're gonna go no-where playing the same venue continually.

Thanks for the serious replies, this spot has been filled, but watch this space.
