Folks, I burst the clutch-slave-cylinder on my daily-driver MGB earlier tonight (luckily as I was parking it outside the house).

What are the chances of finding such a part locally ? I'm going to try Ashgrove Interparts & Tallaght Autoparts, both are good for my more modern cars.

You may just need a new seal kit - you won't know until you strip the original.

Try Allied Auto Spares in Donnybrook (near Sachs Hotel). There's an older lad in there who's a bit of a geek when it comes to older car parts. He may still have to source from the UK but he'll actually listen to you and try to help. Phone 668 0097.

You could also try Headfort MG in Meath (www.headfortmg.com) or the MG Enthusiasts club (www.mgireland.com).

    Hope this helps...

If all else fails, I have two new clutch slave cylinders here - one is a 1" bore Lucas and the other is a spurious one - not sure of the bore but I bought it for my TR6 engined Spitfire. I can check tonight to see if they're suitable for the MG.

Thanks dude ! Will give those guys a ring after 9am.

I think new seals should do the trick, it's an easy job (on the MX5's slave cyl anyway).

Last resort is that I am in London on Thursday/Friday so can always look there too

Ach... ended up getting the parts from the UK, no-one here in Ireland was able to supply them. No worries, though, should be with me on Monday.

While the car's off the road I'm going to give the wheels a well-earned repaint.

    Thanks anyway, Spit !

    Hi,

there is a big MG supplier in Belfast, Brooklands. I think you can buy pretty much anything you need from them although its all new. You could probably get things cheaper in the UK, ebay.co.uk has plenty of new and scavenged parts too.

Don't have their number only an email address, they were pretty prompt too getting back to me the last time,

    brooklands.mg@virgin.net

    good luck
